CUNY LGBTQI+ Student Conference

Bronx Community College 2155 University Ave, Bronx, New York, United States

Queer Care: Unleashing Our Power Established in 2021, the CUNY LGBTQI+ Student Conference is an annual event that brings together LGBTQI+ students from across CUNY who are interested in learning more about leadership and creating change on our campuses and broader communities. What does leadership for social change look like? What does an inclusive CUNY look like? This free conference encompasses food, workshops, a resource fair, a keynote address, and most importantly, bringing together queer & trans students, faculty and staff, and allies. This conference is held at a new CUNY college every year. Reach out to your CUNY LGBTQI+ Council representatives for more information on this conference and how to get involved! This event is organized by the CUNY LGBTQI+ Council. Participation in this Pride event is made possible due to generous funding from the New York City Council Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Intersex, and Asexual Caucus and the Office of the Mayor, and supported by The LaGuardia and Wagner Archives.

The Kingsborough Community College Tapestry Project: Moving Forward Together

The Kingsborough Tapestry Project will take place at a series of events over the course of the Spring 2025 semester and provide all members of the Kingsborough community with artmaking opportunities designed to build a greater sense of community on campus. Why collage art? Collage is an artform that many people can do; it is made by piecing together different images and materials to create something unique. It also offers participants a chance to slow down, look closely, reflect, socialize, and get to know fellow participants. What happens after one makes their collage square? After making your collage, we will photograph it and include a copy of it in a large mural-size tapestry of all our community’s collages. This tapestry will hang on display in the Hall of Flags and be featured at Kingsborough’s 60th Commencement Ceremony held at the Coney Island Amphitheater on June 18, 2025. You get to keep your original collage artwork. If you are graduating, you could even use it to decorate the top of your graduation cap as it is the perfect size! Earth Day Celebration in the COVE (more details to follow)
