The Kingsborough Community College Tapestry Project: Moving Forward Together

The Kingsborough Tapestry Project will take place at a series of events over the course of the Spring 2025 semester and provide all members of the Kingsborough community with artmaking opportunities designed to build a greater sense of community on campus. Why collage art? Collage is an artform that many people can do; it is made by piecing together different images and materials to create something unique. It also offers participants a chance to slow down, look closely, reflect, socialize, and get to know fellow participants. What happens after one makes their collage square? After making your collage, we will photograph it and include a copy of it in a large mural-size tapestry of all our community’s collages. This tapestry will hang on display in the Hall of Flags and be featured at Kingsborough’s 60th Commencement Ceremony held at the Coney Island Amphitheater on June 18, 2025. You get to keep your original collage artwork. If you are graduating, you could even use it to decorate the top of your graduation cap as it is the perfect size! Located in MAC Rotunda (time TBD) – this event will coincide with the ECO-Eats event with a documentary film, and free veggie distribution.
